Title

Sunanda's samovar

Subject

Sunanda talks about her samovar, the use of which spread from Russia to north Kashmir. Used to make the perfect cup of tea - essential in the days before electricity. Looking at it, she recalls traditional Kashmiri teas. One, made for special guests, was a type of green tea with aromatic spices such as cardamom, sprinkled with almonds, pistachios and saffron. Another was a salty, milky tea had as a digestive after meals.

Recorded during an online workshop in July 2020.
