Oxford Pride

The first official Oxford Pride was held on 3rd May 2003. The year before The Jolly Farmers and The Castle Tavern had hosted a street party on Paradise Street in honour of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, with barbecues, games and entertainment. When this proved an unexpected success, an open meeting was held and formed a group to make Oxford Pride an official, yearly event.

With enduring support from Oxford City Council and local gay venues, groups and press, Oxford Pride has grown and grown. Now held once a year in July, the event aims “to be enjoyed by every member, friend or family of the LGBT community.”
