Description
The Coven opened as a nightclub in May 1978 when it took over the premises of an abandoned cafe. Located on Oxpens Road, it became part of the Oxford LGBT+ scene in 1980. Love Shack was a popular queer club night which ran every Friday.
The Coven operated for 33 years, but closed in August 2011 to swap premises with The Lodge, Oxford’s only lap-dancing club. The Coven re-opened in St Ebbe’s under a new name and management later that year.
