Mapping LGBTIQA+ spaces in Oxford

During the project, we researched past and present LGBTIQA+ spaces in Oxford. The information presented here comes from community archives collected by Ross Brooks (author of Queer Oxford trails), now in the care of Tales of Our City; oral histories collected by Tales of Our City; steering group members' contributions; and memories shared by exhibition visitors (through post-it notes and notes added to the Queer Geography of Oxford piece, both of which were added throughout the duration of the exhibition).

Many of these spaces were quite short lived, and most don't exist anymore. We welcome more contributions and new additions - corrections, positive or negative memories, etc.

You can comment on individual spaces by clicking on each tile. To add a new entry, please email us at museum@oxford.gov.uk
