Pat Hanks recalls fish in the river at Tumbling Bay and Long Bridges and a slide into the shallow end.

Interviewer: What was the water like, was it very clear or?
Pat: Cold. Oh, it was quite clear, yes! Long Bridges wasn’t too bad, but Tumbling Bay had a lot of fish. There was a lot of fish in that one. But, um, there were very few, you just saw the odd one at Long Bridges. Whether they had more in the boys’ [swimming area] or not, I don’t know.
Ooh, they did have a slide into the shallow end. You know, just like the slides are – or were – in the recreation grounds. You know, just an ordinary – not like they are today, just an ordinary slide. We thought that was beautiful.
