Learning to swim at Temple Cowley

Andrew Brough recalls his dad teaching him how to swim at Temple Cowley.

Andrew: I wanted to go fishing, when I was about 7 – I really wanted to go fishing. He said, “You can’t go fishing ‘til you learn to swim!” [laughs]. So he took me along to the swimming pool, and I stood on the bank, I was – it was Temple Cowley – and I was frightened to get in the water. And I said, “Can I go swimming now?”, [mumbles] said, “No you haven’t learned to swim,” – so I jumped in! [Laughs] And to this moment I can remember the bubbles going up [laughs]. Realised that I couldn’t swim, you know [laughs].
